Fixation probabilities in evolutionary dynamics under weak selection

چکیده

In evolutionary dynamics, a key measure of mutant trait's success is the probability that it takes over population given some initial mutant-appearance distribution. This "fixation probability" difficult to compute in general, as depends on mutation's effect organism well population's spatial structure, mating patterns, and other factors. this study, we consider weak selection, which means small. We obtain weak-selection perturbation expansion mutant's fixation probability, from an arbitrary configuration resident types. Our results apply broad class stochastic models, size structure are (but fixed). The problem whether selection favors trait thereby reduced exponential polynomial complexity size, when weak. conclude by applying these methods new for dynamics graphs.

Fixation times in evolutionary games under weak selection

In evolutionary game dynamics, reproductive success increases with the performance in an evolutionary game. If strategy A performs better than strategy B, strategy A will spread in the population. Under stochastic dynamics, a single mutant will sooner or later take over the entire population or go extinct. We analyze the mean exit times (or average fixation times) associated with this process. ...

Evolution of Cooperation in a Heterogeneous Graph: Fixation Probabilities under Weak Selection

It has been shown that natural selection favors cooperation in a homogenous graph if the benefit-to-cost ratio exceeds the degree of the graph. However, most graphs related to interactions in real populations are heterogeneous, in which some individuals have many more neighbors than others. In this paper, we introduce a new state variable to measure the time evolution of cooperation in a hetero...

Evolutionary dynamics and fixation probabilities in directed networks

We investigate the evolutionary dynamics in directed and/or weighted networks. We study the fixation probability of a mutant in finite populations in stochastic voter-type dynamics for several update rules. The fixation probability is defined as the probability of a newly introduced mutant in a wild-type population taking over the entire population. In contrast to the case of undirected and unw...

Evolutionary dynamics and fixation probabilities on directed networks

Evolutionary dynamics on directed and/or weighted networks are investigated. We study stochastic voter-type dynamics in finite populations for several update rules. We find that, in contrast to the case of undirected and unweighted networks, fixation probability of a mutant is characterized not only by the degree of the node that the mutant invades but by the global network structure. Consequen...

Fixation in Evolutionary Games under Non-Vanishing Selection

One of the most striking effect of fluctuations in evolutionary game theory is the possibility for mutants to fixate (take over) an entire population. Here, we generalize a recent WKB-based theory to study fixation in evolutionary games under non-vanishing selection, and investigate the relation between selection intensity w and demographic (random) fluctuations. This allows the accurate treatm...
